VESDA Performance Testing
VESDA systems can be tested in a number of different ways from wire burn tests to real fire tests. Most sites will require different types of testing for different customer environments.
Before conducting smoke tests it is neccessary to check to see if the local codes and standards specify which type of smoke test is to be performed. In the UK, the FIA code of practice details which types of tests are suitable for different environments and classes of detectors.
Performance testing is done during commissioning and may be required during service, but is not essential. We highly recommend pipe integrity testing be performed each year.
Generally, specialist equipment is required to carry out performance testing and we appreciate that not every fire alarm company will be equipped with every piece of test equipment. ICS can usually assist by arranging for an engineer to be in attendance during the testing and provide loan test equipment.
