VESDAnet
VESDAnet is the comprehensive fault tolerant proprietary VESDA communications protocol. VESDAnet links the VESDA range of detectors, displays, programmers and remote units on the one network, or remotely, to enable sophisticated configuration, monitoring and control from local or remote sites. Using a VESDA High Level Interface (HLI), VESDAnet also interfaces with systems external to the network such as building management systems and Fire Alarm Control Panels.
Configuring VESDAnet
Using a VESDA configuration tool such as VESDA System Configurator (VSC) or an LCD Programmer, users can view and administer all devices via VESDAnet. The VN Card can be configured through the VESDA detector via its RS-232 Serial port or from the VESDAnet using VSC.
Introduction to VESDA Communications
VESDA Communications are based on two systems.
• VESDAnet is a proprietary network protocol allowing communications between the VESDA Laser Family of products.
• VESDAlink is a protocol allowing communication between a PC and a VESDA LaserCOMPACT (RO model) detector.
All laser family products (with the exception of LaserCOMPACT (RO model) detector) can communicate over VESDAnet. The devices used for communicating are:
• LCD Programmer - It is designed to report and interrogate devices through VESDAnet.
• PC-Link HLI - It connects a PC or an external device with VESDAnet.
VESDAnet Commissioning Services
Whilst commissioning a standalone VESDA detector is quite straight forward, some companies seem hesitant to install a VESDAnet network and instead resort to installing addressable input modules adjacent to each VESDA panel on larger installations.
Ventec Systems provide a VESDAnet commissioning service to assist clients in integrating their VESDA systems, bringing greater benefits and user experiences to their clients. |
